This cat definitely wins movember! He lives at the elephant nature park in Chiang Mai! #cat #moustache #pet #elephant #travel #backpacking #chiangmai
So today I got to visit these incredible animals. This was my birthday present from Lucy. I am a massive animal lover and really wanted to visit some elephants in Chiang Mai. We did a bit of research and read up about Elephant Nature Park. We didn’t want to ride them or see them in chains or mistreated. This seemed like the perfect place to go.
There are about 36 elephants in this park. All rescued from a terrible life. Some had life long injuries. Such as broken legs, hips, scars from when they had been carrying people etc… One elephant in particular stood out for me. Her name is Lucky. This elephant is blind. She was a working elephant. Her first trainer slingshot her in one of her eyes for misbehaving. Again she did not do what the trainer wanted and stood up for herself. Which resulted in the trainer getting angry and stabbing her in her second eye.
Lucky was the first elephant I saw today. And she was lovely. Waiting patiently to be fed. You had to touch her trunk first with the fruit, so that she knew where it was.
In the picture above is a family. A mother, baby and two aunts. They were just chilling in the field, eating.
I definitely recommend this park if you wanted to see elephants treated well :)
So I have been away for almost 3 months and I have missed my cats the most haha. So my brother sent me this picture of one of them. It made me laugh… A lot! Big lips!
Went to use the bathroom in one of the Thai food places the other day. I love the picture they’ve drawn. He’s peeing out of his side.
They didn’t draw one for the ‘WOMAN’ side though..
A £2 foot massage at 11:30pm. Could have easily fallen asleep in that chair.
Did a Thai cooking class yesterday! Was good fun. Learnt a lot and can hopefully be able to do these back home (although I’ve already forgotten) I recommend it!
Just a short video of the protest.
A political protest going on in Bangkok at the moment. Such a crazy thing to walk through. Everyone is so passionate about it. Walking along with their flags, whistles and bracelets supporting their country. Nothing has gotten out of hand yet. And hopefully the people of Thailand will be heard!
Don’t think I’ll ever get used to seeing toilet paper on the table at a restaurant. Thailand is crazy…
Literally all that happened in Koh Samui was rain… Literally rained the whole time! Oh and how could I forget the day tour that involved seasickness.
Now it’s the last night and I am actually sad to leave. I wish I could have done more here but the weather won this time! Wasn’t all bad though. Made some good friends and memories.
I’m trying to mentally prepare myself for a 18 hour bus/boat/bus ride to Bangkok tomorrow… This should be fun… :/
Until next time Samui…
This is where we get some good fruit shakes from!
Rain rain rain rain! Damn you monsoon season. Still love thailand though..
